The Kaunas resident was significantly outraged by the incident on Peace Avenue. According to him, Bolt’s car turned around and obstructed the woman walking through the crosswalk and drove off without stopping. A civilian driver who saw such arrogant behavior reported the incident to authorities and, if necessary, said he would be a witness.
I saw the incident
As Nerijus, who saw the incident on the afternoon of June 11, told him at the time he was driving from Taikos Avenue in the direction of Industrial Avenue, during a heavy rain with his family. According to Kaunas residents, many drivers got stuck that day because the streets were filled with rainwater and therefore difficult to cross.
After passing the so-called “Telekom”, we stopped at a traffic light. There the people made a passage, paved with tiles. While we were stopped at the traffic light, it was one or the other machine turning around, although it is not possible to turn around there. Then I saw a Bolt car moving, the driver stopped at the intersection to see if it was safe, but at that moment a woman was running through the intersection, she had managed to run into the second lane. The driver of the Bolt hit the “throttle” and, making a wide turn, probably turned the wheel not as fast as expected and hit the woman in the back with the front bumper and pushed. He did not fall and still managed to push his hand away, and the driver of the Bolt stepped on the speed pedal and, shifting to the first lane, tried to turn onto Pašilės street. But when he saw that she was done, he jumped right in front of my car into the second lane and drove onto Pramonės Avenue. I pressed an audible signal to stop, but when I saw that I was driving, Bolt’s driver pressed the gas pedal again; I did not listen to it because I was driving with my wife and son, it is not a trap for me. “explained the citizen.
Informed officials
Soon, Nerijus said he had lost sight of Bolt’s driver, but managed to take photos of his car’s registration numbers and call the emergency number 112 and pass information about the pedestrian obstruction on Taikos Avenue to officials.
The officials called me, said that the woman had not yet approached them and offered to record the event on the e.policija.lt platform, but since I have no images of Bolt’s driver committing the rape, it will not be of any kind I use it unless that woman called and reported, we were able to witness it, because the incident was registered with the police, the officers have my contacts, ”Nerijus said on the afternoon of June 11.
When driving through level crossings, safety islands, which are a couple of meters wide, and the driver, obstructing the road user, escapes, passing with common sense!
“It just came to our notice then. While standing in a traffic jam, I saw other drivers turning in two continuous lanes. This is normal if there are no cars in front, but when going through level crossings, safety islands of a couple meters wide, and the driver who is obstructing a road user escapes, good sense! The driver actually saw that woman running across the intersection and saw when it was obstructed because it was impossible not to see. I don’t know if something happened to her, I hadn’t stopped, but she pushed her hard. Even if the woman didn’t fall, that doesn’t mean there were no blows. She was really shocked, because after the blow she shook and only after a couple seconds tried to shake his hand, a civic man.

According to Nerijus, the obstructed pedestrian could be between 45 and 55 years old, with brownish-pink shoulder-length hair and shiny pants.
Kaunas County officials confirmed the Kaunas resident’s words: A report about the event was received on June 11 at Taikos Avenue. 1:46 pm The Bolt car was reported to be obstructing a pedestrian. However, the crew that arrived at the scene of the incident did not find the victim or the driver of the aforementioned Bolt car. Officials are clarifying the circumstances of the incident on their own initiative, but are also awaiting information from the victim, who has not yet reached out to them. “Regardless of what we find out, we will not be able to continue a thorough investigation without the victim’s testimony, it all depends on it,” the Kaunas County Police Chief Commissariat (LSC) guard told journalists on the portal.
Confusing answers
After reporting the incident on Taikos Avenue to representatives of the Bolt transportation services company, they provided mixed answers in writing. He initially stated that a verification of the information provided about a possible incident revealed that a Bolt driver who was driving the car pictured had been released on June 11. it did not work at the time specified in the request. However, a little later, the position changed: it turns out that “the carrier was operating but was not connected to the Bolt platform at the time of the specified possible event and was not carrying passengers.”
“Bolt carriers work individually, using the Bolt platform to accept orders. Drivers decide for themselves when to transport passengers, and the cars Bolt carriers use to provide the service are their personal or leased vehicles and they can freely use them for their own needs, ”explained Andrius Pacevičius, Bolt’s director in Lithuania, behind the scenes.
In addition, according to the interlocutor, drivers are not required to have a video recorder in the car, as this is a personal decision of the driver. However, self-employed drivers with the Bolt platform must comply with the Road Traffic Regulations (KET).
“If it turns out to be the opposite, we are reacting strongly and can limit the possibility of transporting passengers using the Bolt platform.” So far, we have not received a police appeal regarding such an incident (“Kauno diena” on Taikos Avenue). In all cases, we cooperate with the police, we are determined to do it this time too, if there is such an appeal, ”stated A. Pacevičius.
Driver position
As stated, the driver, whose behavior outraged Nerijus, does not use the video recorder, but presented his own version of the event, agreed. He explained that he did not bother the woman, according to Bolt representatives. The driver assured them that at that time he, like other road users, was trying to get around a flooded island near the road because the road was flooded. It was then that a woman was walking in front of the car, screaming in fear that the car was moving.
“The driver says he didn’t stop because they didn’t interfere. We have no doubt that the police will be able to learn all the circumstances of this incident, during which the driver did not provide a transportation service, ”said Bolt’s boss.
