The Kaunas police have already made the first decisions on how to limit the movement of the population together with colleagues from across the country as of Wednesday, after the government has tightened the quarantine conditions. These decisions are also related to the conclusions reached after the first hurdle of its kind on Easter weekend.
Although another meeting is scheduled for this afternoon on what measures to take in Kaunas and the Gulf to limit the spread of the quarantine, according to the representative of the Kaunas police, Odeta Vaitkevičienė, at the meeting called for this afternoon it was decided that all of them will be blocked. the dozens of entrances and exits to Kaunas. But only one part: the main one live. And in others, as in the spring, blocks will be built again.
According to O.Vaitkevičienė, after the spring lockdown, his colleagues and representatives of the Municipality, in preparation for the planned second pandemic wave and a possible scenario these days, especially avoided all the entrances and exits of Kaunas. The goal was to determine where and in what other way they could be blocked.
The focus on crime will remain the same as until now, with the help of video cameras installed in the city.
Until now, only mobile vehicle stops are planned on the roads of the Kaunas district, as it is a circular municipality around Kaunas. Therefore, according to O.Vaitkevičienė, drivers should not be surprised if they are stopped at the police and at checkpoints. Especially on the highway. And the officers would be interested in knowing where they are going. Such measures to verify the legality of the movement of the population will be implemented from Wednesday.
Which representative of the Kaunas police will be launched to control the movement of the population? His representative was still unable to respond. But he assured that this would not happen at the expense of crime prevention. “The focus on criminal activities will remain the same as before, with the help of video cameras installed in the city,” emphasized O. Vaitkevičienė. According to her, the Kaunas Police will help the Military Police and the shooters to verify the legality of the population movement.

After the afternoon meeting, the Kaunas police representative plans to distribute a report on what has finally been decided.
According to representatives of the Kaunas city municipality, this time, unlike Easter, when the restrictions lasted only three days, it is planned to block some roads completely. They will represent a third of all entrances to the city.
“The traffic restrictions at the entrances to the city of Kaunas will be installed from this Friday morning. Their launch is scheduled for January 4. It is planned to physically block a total of thirteen stretches of road around Kaunas , and the police officers will control the steps in 21 places. We are coordinating all actions with the Kaunas Police, taking into account the experience of the spring, when we had to take similar measures during Easter “, says Paulius Keras, Chief from the Kaunas Municipal Emergency Operations Center.
Roads will be blocked here and official controls elsewhere:
