Entrepreneurs admit that as the heat and sun go down, tourists gradually relax, open their wallets and already enjoy their weekends more freely. This was especially noticeable on Saturday, there were already slightly fewer people on Sunday, but there was no shortage either.

“There are far fewer people from Monday to Friday, and more and more people from Klaipeda and other surrounding cities are arriving at night. They buy coffee or hot chocolate waffles, others bite into cafes. Life is gathering momentum,” he said a young woman selling coffee and snacks on Basanavičiaus Street.

She was a merchant of secondary and older amber products.

“On Sunday, at 10 in the morning, almost 30 souvenirs have already been bought, and the working year itself should start in the afternoon, when people will fall asleep and leave their hotels on Basanavičiaus street. Then you will see what happens” said the little businesswoman.

Some of the most famous and popular cafes have to queue on weekends to get to them.

“My family and I wanted to go to a Ukrainian restaurant, but all the tables were occupied. We had to wait a bit, but it is better to wait 10 minutes and eat our favorite food than to go anywhere where the quality of the food is unknown. ”Said Jolanta, who came to Palanga from Klaipeda with her husband Tom and daughter Urte.

A family from Druskininkai walking along Basanavičiaus street said that sometimes they want to change the environment and enjoy the pleasures of the sea.

“We in Druskininkai have no sea, so we want to swim in the waves. The water is still cold, but we decided to jump into the water of the Baltic Sea. On Saturday, the waves were pleasantly surprising. Another surprise was when the heavy rains started on Saturday. They all ran to cafes and bars, they were crowded. There are really many vacationers, “smiled the head of the family Marius.

When asked about the prices of hotels and bars, the people of Druskininkai replied: “The prices are similar everywhere in the resorts. If you want to spend the night in the center and eat in the cafes on Basanavičiaus street, a little more expensive than in Druskininkai, but actually the prices do not differ much. Probably in all the main tourist centers of Lithuania: Palanga, Nida, Juodkrante, Šventoji, Druskininkai, Biržai, the prices, at least in the central streets, are similar ”, said the guests of the complex.

The family of nearby Kaunas residents, Kristina and Marius with two young children, Simu and Lukas were more specific about prices.

“We spend 500 euros on Friday, Saturday and until Sunday afternoon, but we already see that it will not be enough. You will have to go to the ATM or pay by card. The prices are really high: we spent 200 euros in a hotel for just two nights, a fairly modest meal at a time, counting at the bar, at least 50 euros for a family of four. For example, at lunch I paid 14 euros for a cutlet in Kiev, my wife ate a salad – 10 euros, pancakes cost children, apparently 8 euros each, and we had some coffee and children – juice. That’s fifty at a time and there’s no table, “Marius said.

He was seconded by his wife Kristina.

“It just came to our attention then. In such a pandemic period, foreign countries do not want to call on small children, but rather to rest after a hard week of work and change the environment. After all, not everything is counted only in money, ”said the Kaunas resident.

Also, she was pleased that there are also activities for children.

“Electric rollers, bicycles, scooters are rented. Nearby there is a playground, trampolines and other entertainment, and they love to build sand castles by the sea. It is a paradise for children. And if the children are not upset and happy, the parents are satisfied ”, the woman smiled.

An hour of electric ride near Basanavičiaus street costs 15 euros per hour, a scooter – 7 euros, the price of entertainment on trampolines per hour – 10 euros. Ride in electric cars 5 min. – EUR 5, but it can accommodate one child and one adult.

“Sunday is quieter. If you had come last night, you would have had to wait, there was such a period, for 2 hours the cars were constantly busy. And the bars were full. Today, Sunday morning, it is quiet,” said the businessman who rents the car.

Vladas from Klaipėda also confirmed that not all tourists in Palanga look at prices.

“My wife and I come regularly to walk along Basanaviačiaus street, as well as the Palanga bridge, by the sea. Here is a true resort atmosphere. You just get your heart back after a week of work and you don’t even start counting every bite of how much it costs. We eat what is delicious. We have our favorite coffee, “Molinis asotis” and we always go here. “The prices don’t really bite me,” Vlad said.

He said that a few days ago he went to the famous De Cube restaurant, where the courtyard with fountains, flower beds and green bushes was very well arranged, but was unpleasantly surprised by the giant seagulls that simply remembered the food of the customers.

“Fly, and if you turn around and the plates are not safe, you bend down and remove some of the contents of the plate. I saw with my own eyes that this has been done more than once by other customers. They are so big that I don’t know they feel really comfortable, ”said a Klaipeda resident.
