Vaida Petrauskaitė, who has worked as a nursing assistant at Kaunas Clinics Cancer Hospital for nearly 30 years, won’t stop crying today.
“I couldn’t sleep for a month, I couldn’t recover when they put me to work, all my youth was there, my second home was there, and it was done like that, I can’t even speak. It was just kind of genocide, you know, da fear, ”says Vaida Petrauskaitė, a nursing assistant.

The inconvenience began in the summer, when, together with his colleagues, he brought to light possible violations of the law that had flourished in the institution for several years: a false employee and a heavier workload for other nurses who actually worked.
“On the first day of January 2018, I was transferred to the nursing assistant position, we worked with a fictitious employee on maybe two or three guard jobs,” says V. Petrauskaitė.
However, the name of the employee did not disappear from the schedules, so the suspicion arose … Riddle and to whom his salary corresponded.
“It was marked in the graphics, those graphics were not hidden, they were in a drawer. It is on paper and it is not working. They were all dissatisfied with the work schedule, because we went to work and we worked one by one all summer, on Saturdays and Sundays, ”says Vaida Petrauskaitė from Kaunas.
I had to work with cleaners, elevator workers, and take care of the sick; there was a lot of work to break. So the manager was informed of the dissatisfaction with such conditions. Two workers were pressured for this.
“It was said whether to shut up or go to work in the conservative department, where there is a lot of staff turnover,” said Ruslan Zujev, a delegate from nursing.
Vaida’s colleague has already voluntarily quit his job. Vaida itself currently has a certificate of incapacity for work. An authorized person from Kaunas mentions possible misdemeanors, of which there are many in this story.
“In this scheme, a person was fictitiously employed, state funds were looted. Fictitious tables and fictitious applications have been photographed and even blank forms of fictitious applications with pre-made signatures,” says R. Zujev.
Representatives of the Kaunas clinics say they learned of this situation at the branch only this fall.
“When we received the report from the Labor Disputes Commission, to which the employees’ complaints were submitted, a commission was formed and an internal investigation was carried out, this is our assessment, and it was in accordance with the commission’s findings. When serious violations of labor obligations were identified, we took action, ”says Eglė Ramanauskienė, Director of Development at Kaunas Clinics.
According to TV3, a senior nurse in the admissions department at the Oncology Hospital was fired, possibly fictitiously employing a subordinate. And he voluntarily quit his job a little earlier.
“It is in our interest to know if any violation has been committed so that those responsible can be identified and those violations are not repeated. The employee was contacted to express her support and find out how she is,” says E. Ramanauskienė.
The labor disputes commission suggested to the nursing assistants of the Petrauskaitė and Kaunas clinics that they reach a peace agreement. But, according to the Kaunas representative, it has not yet been possible to do so.
“I had to meet for the fourth time and it gave me the impression that the clinics did not reach a peace agreement at all or came unprepared, in any case, it seems strange,” Zujev said.
This whole situation is being taken care of by the forces of order in the Kaunas Clinic Department of the Oncology Hospital. The investigation is in charge of the FNTT and Kaunas prosecutors.
“The Kaunas District Prosecutor’s Office has launched a pre-trial investigation into a possible forgery or possession of a forged document, which may result in a fine, arrest or imprisonment of up to three years,” says Simona Snitkaitė-Kareivienė, representative of the Kaunas Regional Prosecutor’s Office.
Police do not provide further details on the investigation.
