“Wonderful, good impression, good weather, clear sky, I just had to catch that moment, and I was lucky, I caught it, I am happy. We celebrate this birthday, everyone, Kaunas birthday,” passersby say.
“We listened to Eurovision, we flew very well, the children got up to look through the windows what was happening here, and looking at the park alone they began to think that I am going to see it,” people say.
Flying over Kaunas offers a breathtaking panorama.
“Because I am a resident of Kaunas, Kaunas is the most beautiful city to fly over: the Pažaislis monastery, over the Kaunas lagoon and a beautiful view,” says pilot Laurynas Mikalajūnas.
The festive atmosphere in the city is also conveyed by electronic music played early in the morning from the roof of the tallest building in Unity Square.

“The Nemunas cultural magazine, which nurtures the identity of Kaunas, the Kaunas City Symphony Orchestra and the Aura dance theater,” says Irutė Tumaitė, organizer of the Kaunas 2022 event.

Lithuania’s second-largest city celebrates its birthday in 1408, when Vytautas the Great granted Kaunas the right to Magdeburg, the privilege of administering itself as a self-government.
