“From the current results it is clear that we will probably be second, not first. When the results come from the big cities and that situation will change. But the difference will probably be one or two terms. It will probably do it. And it will mean nothing,” he told journalists at the electoral headquarters of LVŽS.
According to the politician, everything will be determined by the second round of the elections.
“The total number of votes of the candidates from the center-left is much higher than that of the right. And in the cities, the situation will be a little different,” said R. Karbauskis.
He said it is not difficult to clinch victory in the hands of preliminary data.
“It just came to our notice then. It was exactly the same four years ago: we took the lead for a long time, then the results from Vilnius came, we dropped to second position. And after the second lap, everything stopped in place.” The head of LVŽS recalled the events of 2016.
“It will not necessarily be the same as last time, the people will support the candidates of the Union of the Fatherland and they will be able to form a ruling majority. It is a decision of the people, we are calm, “he said.
Prime Minister Saulius Skvernelis said late Sunday that it would be possible to start speaking with potential coalition partners on Monday. R. Karbauskis no longer supported these speeches after midnight.
“We have not received calls from other staff members, I don’t think we will receive them. Because the candidates have to speak among themselves in the constituencies. On the other hand, today’s parties will realize that they know nothing. (…) Everything will be decided in the second round. I won’t call anyone either, there’s no point talking about it now. I think if we need to call, it is only because our candidates will not agree with each other on support. But I hope they agree ”, believed the leader of LVŽS.
Speaking of the second round of the elections, R. Karbauskis said that so far it is difficult to predict its results.
“Surely many of us will be in the second rounds, or all will win, so we cannot answer now. The option of the people here is that many of them can enter the Seimas,” said the politician about the second round of the elections.
