R. Karbauskis thanked the people who turned out to vote in the second round of the Seimas elections despite the pandemic.
“First of all, we want to thank the people who came to the elections. The turnout in the second round of the elections was higher than in 2016. And we know what the situation is with the coronavirus. People care what the power will be. And what will be will become clear in a couple of hours. So far nothing can be said, it comes (results, aut. P.) from small districts, and everything is as it should be ”, said R. Karbauskis.
“And when the cities come, we will see,” said the LVŽS leader in riddles. He said that in just two hours it would be clear what the ruling coalition would form.
Prime Minister S. Skvernelis was asked how he assessed his chances in the single-member electoral district of Pilaitė-Karoliniškė and firstly congratulated him on the victory of Žalgiris.
“Real (I predict, aut. P.). Apparently, it is difficult for a peasant candidate to win in Vilnius. But the results will show,” he said. In this one-member constituency, S. Skvernelis is fighting Radvilė Morkūnaitė-Mikulėnienė, a representative of the Union Patria – Lithuanian Christian Democrats (TS-LKD) party.
The prime minister said he would not deal with forecasting the final results. But the politicians weren’t in a good mood.
“My mood is very good, I think Ramūnas is like that,” said S. Skvernelis.
The head of the LVŽS stated that the current trends in the results remind him of the results of the second round of the 2016 Seimas elections.
“The trends are the same as in the last elections, so far. And then we will see. I do not see Kaunas yet, but I would very much like to see it,” said R. Karbauskis.
Both politicians unanimously said there was no discussion this week about a possible ruling coalition.
“Definitely not tonight, we don’t make decisions at night, only during the day,” explained the leader of LVŽS.
When asked when this could happen, S. Skvernel said when everyone falls asleep.
“When everyone falls asleep, we will see the results, then it will begin. Or maybe there will be no discussion, maybe the voters will decide that everything is clear even after that,” said Prime Minister S. Skvernelis.
