Norkienė is offered to vice presidents
The faction is considering proposing the candidacy of the vice president of the party Aušrinė Norkienė to the vice presidents of the Seimas.
According to R. Karbauskis, the candidacy of A. Norkienė has been coordinated with the candidate for the leader of the Liberal parliament Viktorija Čmilyte-Nielsen.
“Our condition is that we will support V. Čmilytė-Nielsen if she (A. Norkienė – BNS) is provided today,” R. Karbauskis told reporters on Friday after the LVŽS faction meeting in the Seimas.
“It would make sense for us to be the second largest faction,” he added.
LVŽS, Social Democrats and “workers” will work together in opposition, will share the leadership position
The leader of the “peasants” also confirmed that the three opposition parties, the Social Democrats, the LVŽS and the Labor Party, had decided to work together.
“The agreement is that we will form a coalition of opposition factions and then we will have an opposition leader, he will rotate, until now there is consensus, but there is still no signed document,” said R. Karbauskis.
According to him, the opposition leader will be nominated for a session of the Seimas, and then there will be a rotation. The first leader of the opposition will be delegated by the faction whose candidate has not delegated any vice president of the Seimas.
“We talked about it for two years, one by one (the Social Democrats and the” workers “- ELTA) share, and for two years our group has an opposition leader,” explained R. Karbauskis.
LVŽS signed a statement stating why it did not support the new rulers
The LVŽS also signed a statement on the work in the opposition, indicating the main values of the faction and the foundations of the work program in the Seimas.
The text of the declaration also establishes that a large part of the programmatic provisions declared by the coalition formed by the new rulers – the Conservatives, the Liberal Movement and the Freedom Party – do not comply with the “fundamental values and electoral programs represented by the LVŽS “. According to R. Karbauskis, the differences in attitudes towards the new rulers can be seen in the areas of traditional family, drug policy, poverty reduction and drug legalization.
