Last Thursday, R. Karbauskis announced that he was retiring from Seimas. However, he pointed out that there was a circumstance that could change his decision if the rulers asked him to stay.
“It just came to our notice then. If the majority of the Seimas asked me not to. I will address the Central Election Commission on Tuesday with a statement. They have until Tuesday. We all understand that this will not be the case. No one will ask and he will be happy at first, and then he will start to regret it, ”said R. Karbauskis.
Last week, the Seimas rejected the candidacy of Aušrinė Norkienė proposed by the peasants by approving the deputies of the parliament. All other proposed vice presidents, both the ruler and the opposition, were approved.
The peasants who were left without their representative in the leadership of the Seimas promise to appear before the Constitutional Court because a large political group is in a worse situation than a small group.
Among the opposition factions, the Lithuanian Union of Greens and Peasants has 32 representatives in the parliament, the Social Democratic Party (12) and the Labor Party (10).
R. Karbauskis was a deputy to Parliament during the Seimas 1996-2000, 2000-2004 and 2016-2020 legislatures.
