Karbauskis does not give up on the coalition: the center-left agreement is real

“Obviously, the most important thing now is to concentrate support for the candidates of those center-left parties, the support of the peasants for other parties, their candidates, the support of others for us. One thing is clear, we are now quietly counting those numbers in the elections after a difficult night. It is clear that 9% went to the polls. voters who probably attended them for the first time. They voted for the Freedom Party, ”the peasant leader analyzed the electoral results.

According to him, the main competitor of the peasants in the elections, the Conservatives, probably reached its ceiling.

“If the people come to the elections and participate actively in the second round of the elections, the result of the elections will be determined by their self-determination. If that decision is favorable to the center-left parties, then the result of the elections is far away. to be clear ”, assured R. Karbauskis.

According to him, due to the possible formation of a coalition, the peasants do not speak to anyone. Such a statement by R. Karbauskis contradicts the idea of Prime Minister Saulius Skvernelis to journalists.

“With everyone [pokalbiai] going. Both I and the president are talking, “said S. Skvernelis.

“Neither Saulius Skvernelis nor I are talking about building a coalition. We are only talking to candidates and colleagues about helping each other in the second round of elections,” said R. Karbauskis.

According to him, the LVŽS will support leftist candidates in those districts where peasant candidates will not find them.

“I said we would support them. I never lied about it. We do that. In this situation, it is gratifying that the president of the Social Democrats also says publicly that he will support our candidates. <...> We have 33 second rounds, the Social Democrats – 12, the Labor Party – 2, the Social Democrats – 4 -, the Polish election campaign – 1. There are several independent candidates who have passed to the second rounds. <...> Then it will be clear which side <...> it has more ”, reasons R. Karbauskis.

According to him, the peasants should win about 24 seats in the second round so that the LVŽS can form a ruling coalition.

“Of those candidates who were able to participate, 9 candidates could lose,” calculated R. Karbauskis.

The peasant leader rejected a possible coalition with the Freedom Party, according to R. Karbauskis, his party’s red line is the aspiration of a political force led by Aušrinė Armonaitė to legalize marijuana.

“It would be very sad if there was a coalition after the elections that started to destroy the work we did that year. When did Lithuania become the best economy in the European Union today, when people’s income <...> greatly increased. If it were destroyed, it would obviously be very sad, “said R. Karbauskis.

The second round of the parliamentary elections will take place on October 25.
