The Betsafe-LKL Championship is a place for young Lithuanian basketball talents to develop. In Pasvalys, in fifth place in the tournament table in the “Milk Stars” team, the Vilnius resident continues his still growing career. heel Giedraitis.

Defender Pasvalis, 22 years old and 194 cm tall, has played ten games this season. K. Giedraitis started the season in the Vilnius main team “Rytas”, but did not appear on the capital’s parquet for a second.

After receiving an offer from the Milk Stars, K. Giedraitis did not hesitate for a long time, piling up his belongings and going to Pasvalys, where he soon became a full member of the team.

Now, as the season accelerates, K. Giedraitis, who spends an average of 20 minutes on the field, accumulates 8.9 points and 2.3 effective passes.

K. Giedraitis shared his thoughts on his career, best teammates and adaptation at Pasvalys with László Vaitiekūnas and all basketball fans on LKL’s Facebook account on Thursday. Some of the questions were prepared by the fans.

– Is coach Gediminas Petrauskas as excited during training as he is in the game?

– Gediminas is the most authentic professional. He is emotional during the game, but in training he is a complete professional, highly dedicated to his work. This is a good coach.

– Weren’t the most expensive salmon fillets in the Milk Stars canteen?

– I heard many stories about that canteen. Now as far as I understand it is closed. I wasn’t in that canteen, but to my knowledge, this potato cutlet hasn’t really gotten any better.

– What impact does the newcomer Edgaras Želionis have on your team?

– Edgar is the biggest positive I’ve probably seen: he supports everyone, always starts. Very youthful polishing shoes, just bought. This is a great teammate. It will always help, advise, bring energy. Big man.

– What NBA team would you play for if you could choose?

– I don’t even know. When I was little I supported the Boston Celtics. He would probably want to play for Boston and play. I still don’t have such a favorite team. I’m more interested in the Euroleague, I start to get interested in the NBA at the end of the season, so it’s more interesting to watch.

– Who wins playing one against one, you or a brother?

– Good question – everything happens, wins, it’s me. We take it very seriously when we play. We are not inferior to each other. Last time we played, this brother came out with nine points, so we decided that this time we could pause the game one on one. Anyway, I have a very good connection with my brother, we even play the same computer games.

– Do you have family ties to Rokas Giedraitis?

– Probably the most common question I hear. It isn’t, we don’t have any kinship ties.

– What games do you remember the most this season?

– This season I think it’s really a match against “Morning” when we beat them at home. And he did well, he wanted to demonstrate this and that to his former team. I really wanted to show it in those competitions, I definitely won’t hide it, it was a different feeling.

– And are there games that you don’t want to repeat alive?

– It was when I played in the National Basketball League (NKL) against Žalgiris in doubles. It was a mini derby, I was one of the main players of that season, the coach was very confident, he said he was shooting. In that game it didn’t go very well, I didn’t hit anything. In the fourth quarter, I lost maybe seven triples in a row. Then I lost another eighth of triples. Returning to defense, I heard from the fans that if the team loses today it is only because of Giedraitis. It was a very poor game, I played very badly, but it seems to me that we won anyway. That fan quote was very memorable.

– How do you personally motivate the match against Žalgiris?

– When I play against Žalgiris, I want to see why they are Euroleague players. He always wants to compare himself with the stars of Europe, on the improvement side there really is something to see. Suppose Artūras Milaknis emerges from behind barriers, how Marius Grigonis creates space. You can definitely see that there is a high standard.

– Wasn’t it surprising that Rytas didn’t make it to the Citadele KMT final four?

– As far as I remember, those duels with Juventus have always been tense. Knowing how much trouble Rytas has, Utena had a good chance here. Perhaps it wasn’t surprising that he lost by such a big difference. Maurice Ndour left the team at a very difficult time and he also felt good.

– If you have to predict, what will the Citadele KMT final four look like in your eyes?

– The favorite is “Žalgiris”, and it is very difficult to say who will reach the final. There are many emotions, techniques in those games. It will be interesting to see what the semi-finals will be like, I’m looking forward to those matches.

– What would you like to improve the most in your game?

– The fact that there is a lack of physicality: mass, kilograms. It is necessary to improve defense. Anyway, you need to improve everywhere, there really is room to grow. Physicality is the biggest problem, I think.
