“And a new COVID-19 test is negative. I am healthy, “says Jonas Sakalauskas, general director of the Lithuanian National Opera and Ballet Theater, who has recovered from COVID-19, and warns skeptics about the disease: do not be afraid, but be careful and investigate: it is necessary.

In an open letter on his social network account, J. Sakalauskas says he received a negative response to Sunday’s retest.
“COVID-19 has finally ended. The virus was also defeated by the theater staff. I have had a fairly severe form of the disease, which is a very rare case at my age. I really want to wish that everyone is healthy, that they protect themselves themselves and their loved ones. Especially to strengthen immunity, as all viruses and infections attack the weakest. COVID-19 will not be quickly overcome nationally and globally, so we will have to accept the new reality that this virus will be with us for a long time …
I want to thank my family, friends, the LNOBT management team and the entire team that supported me and helped me a lot. I am very grateful to Irena Pivoriūnienė for her special attention, the director of the Center for Infectious Diseases at the Vilnius Santara Clinics University Hospital, Professor Ligita Jančorienė, doctors Ugne Sakalauskienusk and all the hospital staff.
Be healthy, have a good week and have as few patients as possible, ”says the LNOBT CEO.

Well-known singer J. Sakalauskas sends a message to COVID-19 skeptics.
“This disease is more real than you think and some of the patients have serious complications. It is gratifying that the treatment options for this disease are also improving rapidly: a lot of information has been collected about the virus and effective treatments are being applied. No It is worth panicking, because the uncertainty is less and less.
If you feel the possible initial symptoms and even though you have a slight suspicion that it may be COVID-19, do tests to protect yourself and others. Only together can we stop the virus and learn to overcome other adversities in the future. I think that many people do not even go to the doctor even when they feel the symptoms, they are afraid and ignore the disease and thus infect others. Unfortunately, many people do not reveal all their contacts because they do not want or are afraid that their loved ones and friends will be isolated. Believe me, no one wants to be isolated, and society’s negative reaction to the sick scares some of those who are sick without complications …
No one is innocent that the disease is in Lithuania. We have to live with it and life goes on. Life does not stand still and calamities have been and always will be. I hope that in the future, the public will be tested even more actively and that the test will be even faster and easier to access. I hope that our society does not ignore other problems, other diseases and social aspects, which were also, are and will be very dangerous for all of us ”, says J. Sakalauskas.
The LNOBT Director General, who has recovered from COVID-19, calls for help from those currently in self-isolation.
“I would also like to thank the LNOBT team, who quickly addressed the challenges. Our theater is no longer abuzz with viruses. The LNOBT adheres to special security requirements and I am sure every effort has been made in the theater to minimize the risk of COVID-19. I am disappointed that people flock to supermarkets, coffee shops, bars and theaters and other cultural institutions are mentioned as potential “virus hotspots”, although it is possible to become infected with a dangerous virus everywhere … “, says J. Sakalauskas.
On August 24, John’s wife, opera soloist Agnė Sabulytė, announced that she had recovered from COVID-19.
15 minutes remember that the director of LNOBT J. Sakalauskas suffered from coronavirus on August 7. Then the theater was temporarily suspended.
