Kukliansky and Zinger point out that Putin in their comment silenced the massive repressions against the peoples of the countries annexed by the USSR during the first Soviet occupation, especially the Jews, as well as the communist fight against Zionism.

The comment recalls that the embassies of foreign states operating in Lithuania, including the Japanese embassy, ​​which rescued Jewish refugees from German-occupied Poland, closed only after the entry of the Soviets.
