The CEC, as reported by Lrytas.tv, received a complaint that the former president of Seimas had misled voters when he introduced himself as a professor when he ran for Seimas last fall.
The university doubts the degree of professor
According to the media, V. Pranckietis was a professor at the Academy of Agriculture only a month and a half before the previous elections.
The politician himself assured him that he would not deceive the electorate. V. Pranckietis said that he had received the title of professor for five years, but the Academy of Agriculture indicated that he was a professor only before becoming a member of the Seimas.
“I was elected professor, everyone knew me as a professor, my certification is until 2021. I was certified for 29 years of work and 29 years of recognition for such achievement,” V. Pranckietis told Lrytas.tv.

CEC President Laura Matjošaitytė confirmed that an investigation had been launched to clarify the circumstances.
“Explaining the circumstances if the information provided in the political advertisement is correct or not in this case, because information has been received from the representatives of the university that the person does not have a specific status. It is we who, insofar as the CEC belongs, will receive and evaluate the information received within the limits of our competence, ”said L. Matjošaitytė.
