Numerous rescue, medical and police forces were dispatched to the outskirts of the Vilnius district. On the Vilnius-Utena highway, the VW Passat collided with an off-road Land Rover. According to preliminary data, VW, arriving from the Paberžė side, went off the side road onto the highway. The van was traveling on a road towards Vilnius.
The blow was quite severe: the mutilated VW stayed at the intersection. The truck was so wrecked that it flew a few dozen more meters. Lifeguards were needed for VW drivers. The 18-year-old driver was already dead. Rescuers removed the body from the VW after severing the body of the deceased.

The guy lived in Paberžė, about ten kilometers away, and he was driving to the gas station with his girlfriend.
A 17-year-old VW passenger avoided very serious injuries, telling police even before she was taken to the hospital that she had asked the guy to slow down because she was slippery.
What happened just before the accident is still unclear: whether the driver was going to get off before the oncoming SUV, whether he didn’t stop before the intersection and slipped on the road, is determined.
The 39-year-old Land Rover driver was not injured and was not told about the circumstances of the accident.
