It is not worth waiting more than 60 euros in car accidents – after support for scooters ran out, he got sad

The Environmental Project Management Agency (APVA) had a working year until last Monday, when it ran out of funds to compensate for the destruction of a polluting car and a new scooter, bicycle, public transport ticket, etc. purchase.

More than 9,000 applicants have benefited from this support alone, the 8 million. euros. At the end of September, an additional 3 million. euros was enough for just one month.

What did the people who delivered the old cars buy?

12366 pcs almost 5 million euros ordinary bicycles and electric scooters.

443 pcs. electric bicycles – 268.8 thousand. euros.

138 electric mopeds and motorcycles – 135 thousand. euros.

178 annual public transport tickets in Vilnius, Kaunas and Klaipeda cost almost 50 thousand. data provided by APVA.

Residents are less likely to use another measure to buy cleaner cars, with more than half of the funds remaining and the invitation valid through Dec. 1.

Neighbors used about 1,580 gasoline cars, about 430 hybrids (gasoline / electric) and 40 electric cars after getting rid of the old car and using a compensation of 1,000 euros each.

I think buyers are cool, they say otherwise

Not all the state money distributed for scrap metal delights everyone.

“If before you took a car to the car collection points, you could get from 50 to 400 euros, now this price has changed to 0”, said Rimvydas, reader of Delfi.

He is convinced that this was due to the aid of 1,000 euros distributed by APVA.

Representatives of car utilization companies confirm that it is not worth expecting high prices now, but this is not due to subsidies.

“We pay, but there are companies that pay nothing. Well, imagine what it’s like to get rid of a car: you have to get rid of the tires, you have to remove and dispose of all the interior, the plastics, you have to scrap and discard the grease; everything is manual labor, you must pay for everything. Tire removal only costs from 100 euros. Everything needs to be removed. To take off the tires, you need to put them in a machine that separates from the rim. Everything costs money and we cannot pay more than 50-60 euros for a car ”, explains Valdemaras Januševskis, commercial director of UAB KG Meta.

Explain that the recycler recovers the income from the metal sold.

“The price of tin, already recycled, clean – about 150 euros per ton. A car, if it weighs 1.2-1.3 tons, then excluding rubber, plastics, seats, glass, everything, remains between 800 and 900 kg. Everything needs to be counted. There are companies that accept the use for free, because here it is expensive, ”says V. Januševskis.

He assures that the prices have nothing to do with the subsidy of 1000 euros that the APVA shares for the recycled car. The man assured that some cars are generally not willing to accept because dismantling is not worth it.

After calling UAB Laurimetas, which sells auto parts, the representative also assured that the prices depend on the prices of metals.

“We pay according to scrap prices. I can’t say exactly because scrap prices change every day. There were both 100 and 120-130 euros, declines, somewhat volatile here. Minus 20 percent. glass, plastic, because you have to use it, remove it and pay for it ”, said a representative from Laurimetos.

APVA did not see such trends, but admitted that it did not assess them.

The money is gone, the cars are no longer open

A representative from Laurimetas confirms that while the support was in force, the flow of recycled cars has increased, especially in recent months.

V. Januševskis, representative of KG Meta, admits that expired state subsidies have adjusted the behavior of car owners.

“People used to grow up, but now as soon as the money runs out, you can see that people have stopped immediately. Apparently lauks. Now all the giving has stopped, people are waiting maybe for something . Immediately, suddenly. If there were calls, now everything has suddenly dropped, there are no cars, there are no additions “, admits V. Januševskis.

According to him, the current support of 1,000 euros for new cars is not so attractive as to encourage people to buy new cars.

“It seems to compensate for a new car, but according to the law, the CO2 emissions of the car in grams are reduced to the point that it is impossible to buy such a car. There must be 130 grams, but there are no new cars. Therefore, a hybrid or purely electric car remains and people do not buy these cars. As a result, everyone who donated cars was transformed into scooters or bicycles, ”says V. Januševskis.

He is convinced that people do not need scooters either, they prefer to use the stand, and then sell the purchased item. However, virtually everyone uses support.

“If you go to the advertising portals and look, you will see how many of those scooters are sold. Everyone who has benefited from that support, nobody needs those scooters. You buy a bicycle with the intention of selling it to someone. People may want to. buy a new car, but with the CO2 rate you can’t. If there was a requirement for Euro 6, it would still be understandable for people to buy. Some retirees don’t need bicycles or scooters at all, “says V. Januševskis.

He says there were misunderstandings when people got rid of cars that were still running, even though they could still drive for several years.

“There was a customer who bought a Nissan with a small 1.2-1.3-liter engine. Very small engine, but it didn’t crash either. Maybe then it should be 0.9-liter, with a completely ridiculous volume. (…) People thought that here everyone paid, and then they started complaining that they had added a good car, that they could drive a couple more years and didn’t get anything, they had to buy scooters or bicycles, ”explained V. Januševskis.

Nagevičius: similar to “assimilation”

Martynas Nagevičius, president of the Lithuanian Renewable Energy Confederation, is somewhat skeptical about the state’s support for the use of vintage cars.

“It just came to our knowledge then. It is not a means of reducing pollution, but a means of promoting the disposal of end-of-life vehicles. Anyone with unregistered debris could benefit and receive 1,000 euros. Similar to a measure of absorption of money, it is not related to the reduction of pollution ”, said M. Nagevičius.

Domantas Tracevičius, the founder of Žiedinė ekonomika, evaluates it more positively: giving a gingerbread for good behavior.

“It just came to our attention then. This not only removes those old vehicles from the street, but also washes old yards that are clogged with old obsolete vehicles. In my opinion, this is an advantage,” says D. Tracevičius.

However, I would also suggest paying more attention to the environment.

“If the question is how to do it, in my opinion, the car pollution tax should be higher when it is registered,” says D. Tracevičius.

Continuity unclear

APVA representative Austėja Jonaitytė does not promise that existing programs will also be valid next year; First, it will be necessary to evaluate the results.

“Once the call is over, depending on the results achieved, the Ministry of the Environment will make decisions. However, so far there are no concrete intentions to continue. It is necessary to evaluate the number of requests received. Actually, the decisions will be made at the end of the year, “said A. Jonaitytė.

Today, residents can still benefit from the € 1,000 compensation and buy a new cleaner car; this measure will expire on December 1.

The APVA’s invitation to buy a new or used electric car and receive compensation of EUR 4000 or 2000, respectively, also remains valid.

“Almost 400 applications were received in this call, which is a small number. Electricity bills are quite expensive, perhaps because of that. This measure is valid until February 1 or until there are sufficient funds,” explained J. Jonaitytė .

The APVA indicates that two measures can be combined, such as support for the purchase of an electric car and an additional € 1,000 for the disposal of an old car.
