“If we compare it with the last millennium, then there have been all kinds of December. But already in this century, December is usually warm. A little autumn pushed it away and it seemed to move,” said V. Ralienė in the program “Delfi rytas” .

He recalled that in December last year there was even more snow, for example in the vicinity of Švenčionys and Dūkštas.

“It just came to our knowledge then. It is true that it snowed and immediately melted. But we did not see any constant, white and prolonged blanket of snow,” commented the interlocutor about the weather in December last year.

V. Ralienė stated that the winters of the last 7 years are unusually warm. And during Christmas Eve, the weather still softens.

“Such a trend is that the warmest weather is on Christmas Eve, at night. And right after Christmas, the weather cools down a bit. There is a possibility that this will also be confirmed this year ”, predicted the representative of the Hydrometeorological Service.

So, Christmas Eve, according to the interlocutor, should be quite warm and rainy.

“There are a lot of clouds that carry precipitation, it will be mostly liquid, although there may be a wet snowflake in the northeast of Lithuania. And already at Christmas, the precipitation is more likely to be varied, mixed: the rain will alternate with sleet, and then snow. It is likely that from the second day of Christmas, the weather will be cool after Christmas.

Must delight mild, weak cold – up to 5, 6 degrees in cold places. And during the day, the temperature in the western districts should be close to 0ºC, the slip will have to be protected, and in the eastern districts there is a high probability that the temperature will also remain negative during the day ”, commented V. Ralienė about the weather next week.

She said it could be called a winter greeting.

The interlocutor stated that at least one out of every two holidays in Lithuania is with lijundra.

“Meteorologists are joking that there will be no storms at Christmas this year,” said the head of the Forecast and Warning Division of the Hydrometeorological Service.

We can only expect snow on the second day of Christmas.

This weekend we will have mostly rain and sleet. The weather will start to warm up early next week and cool off at the end.

“There have been a lot of dense rain clouds that have come to our country, they have brought various rains: rain, snow and drizzle. That strip runs through our country, retreating further to the East, now it is possible to enjoy snow or drizzle in the eastern areas, but it must be replaced by rain and gradually withdraw from our country, “he said.

The interlocutor said that during the weekend we will have mainly light rains.

“On Saturday, Sunday and Monday, there should be little rain, light rain in some places. Saturday night temperature is 1 to 5 degrees, during the day – 2 to 5 degrees hot, seaside 6 to 7 degrees of heat, ”said V. Ralienė.

“And on Sunday and Monday nights, the temperature should be close to zero, a few degrees cooler in the eastern areas, 1-2 degrees hotter closer to the sea, and a couple of degrees warmer in the seashore. You still have to protect yourself from blisters and fog can form at night, “warned the interlocutor.

According to V. Ralienė, a major change in weather can be expected on Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays. Then a more humid climate will come to Lithuania: the wetlands will later turn into rain.
