S. Megega, a 23-year-old Sapega, assured Aliaksandr Lukashenko’s regime spokesman that her mood was “normal” and that she did not believe that the Belarusian special services were involved in the landing of an ocean liner from Athens to Vilnius.
At the beginning of the interview, S. Sapega recounted what happened during the unplanned landing in Minsk on May 23.
He confirmed that R. Pratasevičius had tried to hand over his computer equipment because he believed that the girl should not be detained.
“During the customs inspection, I noticed that they removed Roman, and after about 15-20 minutes it was announced that it was the women who were invited to the customs control.
There, two officials said my first and last name, and I stayed with them, ”said S. Sapega, who studied at the European University of Humanities in Vilnius before his arrest.
During the Belarus 1 television interview with S. Sapega, an excerpt from R. Pratasevičius’s interview was shown, in which he claims that Jan Rudikas, associate of the opposition channel Telegram Nexta, as well as an advisor to the opposition leader Sviatlan Cichanouskaja, may have contributed to the Minsk landing Franak Viačiorka and his other partner Danilas Bogdanovičius.
In response to such statements, Sapega said that he did not want to make assumptions about anyone’s involvement in the situation, since he was always “far from any political interpretation.”
“But yes, from the conversations with Raman it was concluded that his work team is involved here, something from his work environment. This option should definitely not be rejected, “said S. Sapega.
The girl also claimed that “no KGB officer did anything to us on the plane, they weren’t there.”
S. Sapega said that he did not believe that the Belarusian special services had contributed to the landing of the liner: “I tried never to get into this situation. I am still in this situation. And probably after the story with me ends, I will need more time to understand and draw a reasonable and sober conclusion, to make some kind of evaluation. I am not doing any evaluation at this time. “
He explained that lately he had been feeling “much better than in the first days”, but that “it is too early to talk about future plans.”
“The mood is normal. And I am willing to go further,” summed up the Russian citizen.
A critic of the regime suddenly became his supporter
May 23 A Ryanair plane flying from Athens to Vilnius landed at Minsk airport after an accident after Belarusian authorities reported a bomb on board. Later the message turned out to be incorrect.
After landing, the security forces detained R. Pratasevičius and his friend S. Sapega. Russia is accused of organizing collective actions in Belarus that seriously violate public order and incite social hostility.
On June 25, the Belarus Investigation Committee announced that Pratasevich and Sapega had reached a pre-trial agreement with the interrogators and “pledged to assist in the pre-trial investigation by investigating the crimes and identifying the accomplices.”
Later, both were transferred from the preventive detention center to house arrest.
The channels of the Belarusian regime have shown conversations with R. Pratasevic before. He responded positively to Lukashenko, repented and criticized opposition figures.
According to experts, R. Pratasevičius was forced to do the following in exchange for the commutation: the terrorism charges, threatened with the death penalty or life imprisonment, were replaced by lighter ones, the organization of mass riots.
