On Saturday morning, Arūnas Gelažninkas shared the first views from the Dubai sand dunes. Together with his teammates Mačiekas Giemža of Poland and United Arab Emirates motorcyclist Mohammed Balooshi, Arūnas began training in the desert.
The question arises as to where did he get a motorcycle to train (because Arūnas dakarinis motorcycle already on the ferry)? Mohammed took care of everything. He gave the Lithuanian a new Husqvarna 450 FC.
December 11 Arūnas Gelažninkas, together with his teammates and many Dakar stars who have come to train ahead of the biggest rally of the season, will start on the UAE Cross Country Championship stage. In total, about 50 participants will gather, Arūnas will start in the general classification and 30+ (according to age group).
Before each Dakar practice, many motorcycling stars from the factory teams come to Dubai: KTM and Yamaha representatives Toby Price, Sam Sunderland, Matthias Walkner, Adrien van Beveren and others.
Mohammed Balooshi is called brother
If Arūnas’s friendship with the Polish M. Giemža, who will also participate in the Perimeter competition in Lithuania, should not be very surprising, then the close cooperation with Mohammed is an interesting detail from Lithuanian biography.
“We are called brothers. Siblings of different mothers (Brothers born to different mothers – in Lithuanian) “, – jokes A. Gelažninkas.
In fact, they also have external similarities. And riding at a similar speed, that’s why in Saudi Arabia a year ago they also stayed on the track together.
