Investigators from the U.S. National Transportation Safety Board found that the pilot of the helicopter carrying Kobe Bryant flew through the clouds, which could result in a loss of orientation just before the helicopter crash that killed everyone who flew: the pilot, Bryant, his daughter, and six others.
According to investigators, the pilot Ara Zobayan was found to have ignored flight rules while flying through the clouds and thus lost the required visibility. The flight took place through thick fog.
Just before the accident, the pilot informed air traffic controllers that he had almost gone through the clouds. Pilots take this action to improve visibility.
Still, a helicopter made a sharp turn and crashed into the hillside.
The helicopter had no black box, which was not mandatory for him.
The accident occurred on January 26, 2020.
