International air defense exercises begin in Lithuania

Tobruq Legacy 20 (Tobruko Legacy 2020) training will take place in Šiauliai, Kaunas and Vilnius counties until September 25, the Ministry of National Defense announced.

Its main objective is to train Lithuanian and allied units to carry out tactical and interoperability procedures of NATO ground air defense units, to improve airspace management and control.

The exercise aims to increase the integrity of international ground air defense capabilities, thus enhancing preparation for a possible collective defense scenario.

About 950 soldiers from Lithuania, the Czech Republic, Estonia, Italy, the United States, Latvia, Poland, France, Slovakia and Hungary will participate in the exercise.

The allies will bring the Patriot, SAMP / T, Avenger, Mistral, RBS 70, GROM, Poprad, Stinger air defense systems to the exercise.

During the exercise, the international ground air defense units will be integrated into a common command and control system and carry out operations to combat air targets.
