The youngest Lithuanian Olympian did not know at first if he had reached the next stage.

“It just came to our notice then. This could have been my last outing in this match. Maybe by accident I reached the semi-finals,” he thought, but soon he smiled much more.

The swimming and water in the impressive swimming pool of the Tokyo Aquatic Center were a success for Lithuania.

K. Teterevkova covered 100 distances in 1 minute. 06.82 sec. The swimmer was still fourth after the first 50 meters, but then increased his pace and left behind Alia Atkinson, who is well known to Lithuanians. The 32-year-old Jamaican swimmer has been a fierce rival to R. Meilutytė in the past. She was 0.88 seconds behind K. Teterevkova and did not reach the semi-finals.

“I am very satisfied with the result. I planned to capture the norm before the Olympic Games, but I did it during the Olympic Games. I am happy,” said K. Teterevkova, who entered the Tokyo Games without complying with the Olympic norm.

K. Teterevkova will have to fight in the semifinals with the well-learned names of Lithuanians from the time of R. Meilutytė’s triumph. Catherine herself is convinced that the favorites are the American Lilly King and the Russian Julia Jefimova.

The latter reached the semifinals for number eight and covered the distance in 1 minute. 06.21 sec. The third of the general classification LK covered the distance in 1 minute. 05.55 seconds, and the best of all was the South African swimmer Tatjana Schoenmaker. He covered the distance in 1 minute. 04.82 sec.

K. Teterevkova will fight in the semifinals of the 100m breaststroke on Monday at 4 pm 50 min. Lithuanian time. K.Teterevkova will continue to compete in the 200m breaststroke competition; the selection will take place on Wednesday.
