Independent Provider Offers – What to Choose If You Only Care About Electricity Price

[ad_1]

Three cases are considered. According to the first, the home consumes an average of 100 kWh of electricity per month, according to the second, 250 kWh, and according to the third, 450 kWh.

It is from the approximate kWh consumption that the supplier selection analysis should begin. It will depend on which proposed plans will be compared to each other.

Another important option is one or two time zone rates. As electricity is cheaper at night and on weekends, it is advisable that those who consume a significant part of it opt for dual time zone rates at that time.

According to the website of the state-owned company Ignitis, the daily rate applies on weekdays from 7 am to 11 pm. (20:00 to 00:00 in summer) and the night rate from Monday to Friday from 23:00 to 07:00 (Summer hours 24-8) and 24 hours on weekends.

“If you consume at least a third of your energy on weekends and in the evenings or at night, we suggest you consider choosing a free rate from two time zones,” advises Ignitis.

The final electricity bill will also be affected by whether the consumer chooses fixed or variable prices. Independent providers still offer discounts when signing contracts for a longer period, but this analysis does not evaluate this. The green energy option is also not taken into account: some providers do not charge anything, others offer to pay extra per kWh or per month.

100 kWh per month

As you know, as of December 10 of this year, only those consumers who consume more than 5 thousand. kWh (417 kWh / month). Thus, consumers who consume around 100 kWh per month can stay with the public provider (Ignitis).

In the second half of 2020, the following “Standard” rates for the Ignitis plan were approved: 0.137 Eur / kWh for a time zone, 0.155 Eur / kWh for the day and 0.099 Eur / kWh for the night, Saturday and Sunday.

For a home that consumes 100 kWh per month, Ignitis recommends a “Minimum” independent provider plan. Rates of 0.159 Eur / kWh are offered for a time zone, 0.172 Eur / kWh for the day and 0.118 Eur / kWh for night energy.

Elektrum offers to pay 0.149 Eur / kWh per time zone or 0.171 Eur / kWh during the day and 0.111 Eur / kWh at night.

Enefit offer: 0.147 Eur / kWh or 0.158 Eur / kWh during the day and 0.122 Eur / kWh at night according to fixed prices. By choosing variable prices, you would pay 0.123 Eur / kWh or 0.134 Eur / kWh during the day and 0.098 Eur / kWh at night. The plan also provides for a monthly fee of € 2.99.

Perlas energija also offers fixed and variable prices. The fix would pay 0.137 Eur / kWh or 0.155 Eur / kWh during the day and 0.099 Eur / kWh during the night. The choice of variables would provide a choice between € 0.120 / kWh or € 0.131 / kWh during the day and € 0.095 / kWh at night. The variable rate plan is still subject to a € 2.5 monthly fee.

Consumers of approximately 100 kWh per month must first wait until the State Energy Regulatory Council sets next year’s prices for end users. This event is scheduled until December 1. It may be worth sticking with a public provider, at least that’s the case now.

Comparing the standard single time zone rate plans of all providers, which consume 100 kWh per month, the lowest bill would be with the public provider Ignitis or with the fixed rate Perlo Energija plan: 13.7 euros.

Choosing a variable energy rate plan from Perlo would cost € 14.5, but the rates in this plan change constantly, so over time the bill could be lower and higher.

Enefit’s fixed rate account would reach 14.7 euros, that of Elektrum at 14.87 euros, that of Enefit with a variable rate at 15.29 euros and the Ignitis independent provider plan at 15.9 euros.

Ignitis also offers to opt for green energy, which would cost 0.00022 Eur / kWh (0.02 euros would contribute to the bill of 100 kWh / month). Elektrum and Enefit still do not charge extra for green energy, and Perlas Energija would choose 0.5 euros per month. However, as mentioned above, these options were not included in the final price comparison.

250 kWh per month

Consumers of 250 kWh per month (3000 kWh) per year are entering the second wave of market liberalization and must choose an independent supplier by December 10, 2021.

For consumers who consume as much as Ignitis, they now offer the Namai and Optimalus plan as a separate provider.

Both plans have a fixed monthly component of € 3. In the case of “home” and choosing the rate of a time zone, 1 kWh costs 0.122 euros. With tariffs of two time zones, 1 kWh costs € 0.137 per day and € 0.090 at night and on weekends.

The rates applied in the “optimal” plan are 0.138 Eur / kWh in a time zone or 0.154 Eur / kWh during the day and 0.109 Eur / kWh during the night.

In the Elektrum plan, Namai offers 0.134 Eur / kWh or 0.153 Eur / kWh during the day and 0.102 Eur / kWh at night. Therefore, the fixed component of EUR 3 per month applies.

Enefit’s flat rate plan offers 0.132 Eur / kWh or 0.140 Eur / kWh during the day and 0.113 Eur / kWh at night. In the variable rate plan – 0.108 Eur / kWh or 0.116 Eur / kWh during the day and 0.089 Eur / kWh at night. The fixed rate plan has a fixed component of € 3 and a variable component of € 5.99.

Perlas Energija’s fixed rate plan offers 0.122 Eur / kWh or 0.137 Eur / kWh during the day and 0.090 Eur / kWh at night. In the variable rate plan – 0.105 Eur / kWh or 0.113 Eur / kWh during the day and 0.086 Eur / kWh at night. The flat rate plan has a fixed component of € 3 and a variable component of € 3 plus a monthly fee of € 2.5.

Two scenarios were tested comparing offers at 250 kWh per month. Rates for one time zone were applied for one, for two, 150 kWh for days and 100 kWh for nights.

In the case of single time zone rate plans, the monthly invoices for the supplier offers are as follows: Energija Pearls (variable) – EUR 31.75, Enefit (variable) – EUR 32.99, Ignitis now – 33, € 5, Enefit ”(Fixed) – € 36,“ Perlas energija ”(fixed) – € 36, Elektrum – € 36.42, Ignitis Offer – € 37.5. It is important to note that the rates for variable plans can change.

In the case of two time zone rate plans, the monthly invoices for the offers from the providers are as follows: Perlas Energija (variable) 31.05 EUR, Enefit (variable) 32.39 EUR, Ignitis now 32.55 EUR, Perlas energija ”(fixed) – 35.05 euros, Enefit (fixed) – 35.3 euros, Elektrum – 36.17 euros, Ignitis offer – 37 euros.

450 kWh per month

Consuming 450 kWh per month or 5.4 thousand. kWh per year, an independent supplier must be selected before December 10 of this year. Otherwise, starting at the beginning of next year, the price of electricity will be recalculated monthly, taking into account the average price of the previous month and applying a coefficient of 1.25.

Both electricity consumers can already choose between plans called “House Plus”. Currently, the public provider Ignitis applies a fixed component of 6 euros to this plan, and then you can choose between a single time zone rate of 0.117 euros or 0.131 euros per day and nightly rates of 0.087.

Elektrum’s fixed component is also 6 euros. The rate for one time zone is 0.129 euros, for two – 0.147 and 0.099 euros.

The fixed component of Enefit’s fixed rates is € 6 and the variable component is € 8.99. The fixed rate for one time zone is 0.127 euros, for two – 0.134 and 0.110 euros. The variable rate for one time zone is 0.103 euros, for two – 0.110 and 0.086 euros.

The fixed component of the fixed and variable rates of “Perlas energija” is the same – 6 euros. The fixed rate for one time zone is 0.117 euros, for two – 0.131 and 0.087 euros. The variable rate for one time zone is 0.100 euros, for two – 0.107 and 0.083 euros. Perlas Energija also charges a monthly fee of 2.5 euros for variable rate plans.

Comparing the “Home Plus” rate plans for a single time zone, the offers are as follows: “Pearl Energy” (variable) – 53.5 euros per month, “Enefit” (variable) – 55.34 euros, “Ignitis” – 58 euros, 65 euros, “Perlas energija” (fixed) – 61.15 euros, “Enefit” (fixed) – 63.15 euros, “Elektrum” – 63.91 and “Ignitis” offer – 65.1 euros.

Ignitis, as a public provider, now offers a smart plan with rates for four time zones, but this requires the installation of a smart meter for a fee. Consumers can also opt for the independent vendor Ignitis Dynamic plan, where the price changes every month.

Another independent provider, Inregnum, has yet to publish its offers. More independent providers can emerge at any time. After losing a competitive battle, some of them may close.
