A report published on ABC7 News on Friday night shows dozens of protesters throwing a rope, knocking down a statue of General Albert Pike, singing “vital blacks of life” and setting the monument on fire.

After the incident, Trump posted several posts on Twitter marking the name of the mayor of Washington in a play. According to the president, the capital’s police “are not doing their job, observing the demolition and burning of the statue.” Those people should be arrested immediately. What a shame for our party!

Washington Democratic Mayor Muriel Bowser and Trump had previously disagreed over the use of police force in the capital, and the president had recently asked the National Guard to quell the unrest.

In many US cities USA Marches and demonstrations of protesters demanding racial justice were held in March to mark the anniversary of the abolition of slavery.

In Washington, protesters gathered at the Lincoln Memorial and the White House.

Big protests have affected the United States for weeks. They were provoked in late May by the death of an unarmed African American in Minneapolis due to harsh police action.

Protesters have demolished many monuments to Confederate figures in protest at deep-seated racism, police brutality and injustice.
