A report from the National Police says that an unknown man indiscriminately assaulted people on the streets of the industrial city of Kryvyi Rih.

Police said the assailant fatally robbed two people and injured eight others, including an eight-year-old boy.

Later, the police reported that the attacker, a 37-year-old local resident, had been arrested.

So far no further details of the incident have been released nor have the motives for the attack been identified.

Kryvyi Rih-born President Volodymyr Zelensky said the attack was “a manifestation of outright terrorism … It was terrorism, a barbaric way of intimidating people.”

In mid-May in Ukraine, seven people were shot during a fishing trip, the participants of which were heavily intoxicated with alcohol. Such incidents are rare in the country.
