In Ukraine, 25 people died in a military plane crash

“We ask people with photos, video recorder videos and mobile phones of the plane crash site to submit their contact details,” the State Investigations Office said in a statement issued Saturday night.

An An-26 military plane crashed while landing at Chuyujiv airport on Friday night. In addition to the crew, there was a group of students from the Kharkiv Air Force University on board.

The Vice Minister of the Interior, Anton Heraščenka, reported that there were a total of 28 people on the plane, two people were taken to the hospital.

“The rescue teams continue to investigate the crashed fuselage of the plane and look for other dead and wounded,” said the deputy minister.

The causes of the disaster are not yet known. President Volodymyr Zelensky has ordered the creation of a state commission to clarify all the causes and circumstances of the incident. The president also promises to go to the scene of the disaster himself.

The incident took place on Friday night when a Ukrainian Air Force plane landed at Chukhiv airport. In addition to the crew, there was a group of students from the Kharkiv Air Force University on board.

According to initial information, it was a training flight.

According to preliminary information available to the General Prosecutor’s Office of Ukraine, 25 of the 27 people on board were killed in the accident. Two people were hospitalized and in serious condition.

After the incident, the Attorney General’s Office opened a criminal case for violating the flight rules and preparing for them, which caused the disaster and serious consequences.

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky vows to go to the Kharkiv region on Saturday due to the disaster.
