The protesters were arrested on Sunday

Units of the special forces of the Belarusian militia OMON expelled the protesters from the center of the capital on Sunday night, but the unauthorized protests immediately moved to the entrances of the Pushkinkaya metro station.

According to witnesses, several thousand people gathered there despite the heavy rains. To expel them, OMON again used water cannons and carried out abrupt arrests. Most likely, gunshots and explosions will be heard – sound grenades.

To free the detainees, protesters are actively dealing with OMON, which uses rubber sticks, and almost anything falls from the crowd flying towards it.

At the same time, OMON began to “comb” all the nearby courtyards, looking for participants in the protests.

Opposition protests in Minsk on Sunday re-recorded the arrests of journalists. According to the portal tut.by, among the detainees are the editor-in-chief of the newspaper Naša Niva Jegoras Martinovičius and the photographer Nadežda Bužan. Several Red Cross volunteers have also reportedly been detained.

At least 250 protesters were arrested in Belarus on Sunday, the Viasna human rights center said.

A list of the names of the detained protesters is posted on the Center’s website and is constantly updated.

According to human rights defenders, the arrests were recorded in the capital Minsk and in other major cities of the country: Brest, Vitebsk, Mogilev, Grodno, Molodechno, Žlobin, Kobrin, Bobruisk.

According to Viasna, on October 11, some 40 journalists and photojournalists from various media outlets were arrested in the country. Some of them have already run.

Belarus has been waging massive protests for more than two months over the presidential elections on August 9, announced by Aliaksandr Lukashenko, who has ruled the country since 1994. The opposition and western democracies consider these elections rigged.
