Starting Monday, during early voting in the second round of the Seimas elections, the country’s police launched two pre-trial investigations related to the elections.

As Ramūnas Matonis, a representative from the Police Department, told BNS on Sunday, both pre-trial investigations began on Monday, one of them due to an attempt to break into a carriage intended for early voting in Lukiškės square in the capital. Police have not yet detailed the circumstances of the second pre-trial investigation.

In all, the police received 38 reports of possible electoral irregularities between October 19 and Sunday morning, mainly due to illegal agitation, suspicious people or cars at polling stations and possible bribery of voters.

Due to some of the information received, additional material is collected and the circumstances clarified.

According to R.Matonis, during the voting in the second round of the Seimas elections on Sunday, reports were already received, the information is being reviewed.
