The UEFA Champions League quarter-final battle between Barcelona and Bayern took place in the Portuguese capital Lisbon on Friday night.
The game did not live up to that name: Barça, who seemed desperate, even fell under the feet of Bavaria 2: 8 (1: 4).
Bayern will face the winners of the Manchester City and Lyon duo in the semi-finals of the tournament.
Barcelona, which ranked second in the Spanish La Liga Championship this year, finished without trophies for the first time since the 2008 season. To prevent this from happening, the Catalans had to cross the barrier of playing hard for the Bavarians who were considered the favorites of the meeting.
It didn’t happen: in the first leg quarterfinals, Bayern gutted whatever they wanted and left their rivals a wet spot.
The intrigue of this match was short-lived only twice: when he accidentally directed the ball to his goal in minute 7 and tied the score, David Alaba, and in minute 57, when Luis Suárez reduced his back to 2: 4.
Still 63 min. Joshua Kimmich’s goal finally demoralized the Catalans, and in the rest of the time they were, at best, the Spanish Second League team.
This year, the practically unstoppable Germans have already won not only the “Bundesliga” title, but also the national cup.
Probably the main reason for Bayern’s victories is Robert Lewandowski’s form. 54 goals in 45 games this season: this is the Polish dowry. Another revealing fact is that the Bavarian forward did not leave the field without a goal in the UEFA Champions League this season, and has already accumulated 14 of them in total (he also added one against the Catalans), that is to say. and. more than double that of any other tournament player.
Lionel Messi scored only 3 accurate shots in Europe.

The game started without intelligence and already in minute 4 the Bavarians went ahead: after a beautiful combination and the transfer of R. Lewandowski to the Catalan goal with a technical touch, Thomas Mulleris sent the 0-1.
The Germans were not happy with the advantage obtained for a short time: already 7 min. After a short fight with the defender, J. Albos finally got the ball home.
Soon, Barça was twice in the hair of the second goal: at first, L. Suárez did not miss the golden opportunity, which jumped against M. Neuer, and immediately after, the ball directed at L. Messio to the area of penalty suddenly shook the shaft.
22 min. After the Catalans made a mistake near the penalty area, Ivanas Perišičius returned the lead to Bayern from an acute angle with a powerful shot off his sharp foot – 1: 2.
The defense of the Barcelona representatives continued to break down: 27 min. it was also used by S. Gnabry, who disarmed M.-A. ter Stegen for the third time – 1: 3.
A moment later, R. Lewandowski blew the chance one hundred percent, but this was not a problem, because already 31 min. once again scored by Th. Mulleris – 1: 4.
At the beginning of the second half, the picture remained the same: R. Lewandowski and L. Goretzka continued to catapult the opposing goal.
Still 57 min. L. Suaez, who showed individual dominance, mitigated Barça’s delay – 2: 4.
The Bavarians did not collapse and 63 min. Only one impressive foray was made by 19-year-old A. Davies, who had bathed almost half of the Catalan team, after which the pass was passed to J. Kimmich to throw the ball into the empty net – 2: 5.
82 min. R. Lewandowski also spoke, scoring his shot from very close – 2: 6.
85 min. seventh, and 89 min. and Philippe Coutinho drove the eighth nail into the coffin of Quique Setien’s students – 2: 8.
It is clear that Barcos would not have been saved even by the retaliation that was abandoned by the coronavirus pandemic.
