The woman discovered a huge boletus in the forests of Samogitia, near Telšiai. Although, in good weather conditions, she is attracted to mushrooms as soon as she finds free time, she claims to have seen such a giant for the first time.
“I’ve found big ones before, but no one has matched them. The condition of the boletus is good: the stem is strong and not crooked. We took it home and wanted to show it to the children,” says Monika.
Although the stem of the boletus was healthy, the hat was worn, so the family did not try it anyway. “We brought home as trophies, and so on. Then I left it in the meadow ”, says the mushroom.
According to her, this time she is especially grateful to mushrooms: forests are rich in mushrooms, they are not worn out. “There are many mushrooms in the Samogitia forests, where mushrooms are grown. At this point, they are actually healthier than the first outbreak, when practically everyone was full of worms. Now only each other is worms ”, he shares his impressions.
Although infrequently, the mushroom giants delight the Lithuanian population. Alvydas Barauskas, who had been growing like mushrooms in the forests of Kazlų Rūda a few days ago, discovered a huge boletus; Although it was not heavy, the man guessed that the mushroom could weigh about 1.3 kilograms. And last year, Elvyra Činikienė, a resident of the Kėdainiai district, discovered a boletus that weighed 1.6 kilograms.
No matter how large the boletus found in recent years are, they still need to grow to the Lithuanian record. To date, the largest boletus found in Lithuanian forests weighs up to 3.05 kilograms and its diameter is 49 centimeters. Jonas Kuklys, a student at the Poškoniai eight-year-old school in the Šalčininkai district, set the record for boletus in September 1971.
