Detected by hunters

Hunters from the Pagojukas Hunters Club of the Raseiniai region found tracks of bears in the fields, which they inspected their hunting areas last week.

“The traces were discovered by the Ilgižiai farmer, the hunter Gintautas Ramanauskas, and since he had nothing to photograph, he invited other hunters from that club,” explained the hunter Gediminas Žiūkas to the Market Square.

For the first time in Raseiniai

Hunters said the brown had never visited the Raseiniai region before. They assumed it came from Latvia. And he approached Raseiniai from Šiauliai’s side.

“I’m glad that not only wolves but also teddy bears are already visiting the Raseiniai district. How not how … feeling! From what I remember, no teddy bears have been observed in the Raseiniai district yet .

In fact, in my opinion, a 3- or 4-year-old teddy bear was walking there, because bears grow and mature very slowly, ”said the hunter from the Raseiniai region.

To Kėdainiai

Local hunters tried to follow in the bear’s footsteps, but not with much success. According to them, the bear advanced towards the center of Lithuania. Perhaps she also visits the Kėdainiai region?

“The tracks of the bear were recorded at noon, although the tracks do not appear to be too” fresh “, but you can see that the bear traveled in the direction of Kėdainiai,” said G. Žiūkas.

Lost from Latvia?

According to hunters, bears are common in the forests of Eurasia, North America, and semi-forested areas and mountains.

The most common subspecies are the Eurasian brown bear and the brown bear, which live in Europe, Asia, and North America. In many European countries (except in the northern part of Russia), the species have become extinct or only small isolated populations have survived, mainly in the mountains.

Lives permanently in Latvia, Belarus, Poland. In Lithuania, the bear disappeared in the 19th century. in the second half, now he does not live permanently.

Over the last 3-4 decades, stray bears have been observed in the districts of Biržai, Panevėžys, Ukmergė, Utena, Ignalina, Alytus, Švenčionys, Varėna, Vilnius and Jurbarkas.
