At the castle’s border checkpoint, border guards searched both the ship and the people in it. The captain and all 18 crew members are Filipino citizens, all whose documents are in order.

There are also two illegal immigrants on board who presented themselves as Algerian citizens. They are locked in separate, locked rooms on the ship. According to the captain, the migrants who had entered the boat illegally were detected when the boat set sail for Ust-Luga from the port of Oran in Algeria.

The captain presented a letter of guarantee to the border guards, in which he promised that during the ship’s stay in the port of Klaipeda he would ensure that illegal immigrants did not leave the ship. The captain is also responsible for ensuring the protection of both people on board.

After the inspection of the ship, the officers of the Pagėgiai team of the SBGS Special Purpose Division remained on duty. They make sure that illegal immigrants don’t actually disembark from a ship that can be in port for 3-5 days.
