“At the moment, we cannot name the person for whom the application has been submitted to the court. We will be able to provide more after the court decision,” says Dalia Pocienė, Chief Prosecutor of the Klaipėda Regional Prosecutor’s Office.

According to the prosecutor, after about fifty searches, half a million euros in cash were found, nine people were arrested, including managers, a total of 12 people were suspected. According to data from the Registry Center, the shareholders of the Fertility Clinic are Algė Ivaškevičė, Virginijus Diržauskas, Algirdas Usonis and Dov Feldberg.

Added at 15.46: The financial director of the Fertility Clinic was detained for seven days, although the prosecution requested a month. In the lawsuit filed with the court, the prosecutor Linas Kiaurakis says that he has indicated that the alleged person can destroy important evidence or, in the exercise of his functions, influence or pressure other people.

A. Usonis, the head of the clinic, according to L. Kiaurakis, is also one of the suspects, but will not be asked to arrest him.

“He is a suspect, he has been charged with two articles of the Penal Code on the organization of fraudulent accounting and the recording and sending of incorrect data to the State Tax Inspection. He (A. Usonis – clarification) admitted. There are two preventive detention measures: the promise not to leave and the seizure of documents, “says the prosecutor.

Delfi recalls that the investigation was made public on Thursday.

The clinic advertises on its website that it is the largest infertility treatment institution in Lithuania, which performs most of the assisted reproductive procedures in the country. The clinic, which has been in operation since 2000, has branches in Vilnius, Kaunas and Klaipėda. It is directed by A. Usonis.

According to the police, the pre-trial investigation included searches at the company’s facilities in Vilnius, Kaunas and Klaipėda, the homes, vehicles and other places of the detainees. “The raids were carried out in a private medical services company and in the residences and cars of its employees and managers,” said the prosecutor.

According to the data currently available, some 500 thousand people were found during the search. as well as various accounting and other documents, computer supports and other relevant elements for the investigation.
