Near the house
“It just came to our attention then. Nearby, near our house, we saw a stag deer.
At first we admired it through the window, but when we woke up the next morning we noticed that it was in the same place, it was simply not standing anymore, and it was all snowy. He only saw the ears, so the man was quick to see what had happened to him.
The man put the deer on its feet. He looked healthy, eating grass. But after another half day and noticing that it was standing still and not moving, it alarmed me.
I realized that something was really wrong with a wild animal, ”said Dovilė Važgauskienė, a resident of only one farm.
Guest to animal service
The woman set out to seek help.
After learning that Pifas, an animal welfare farm operating in Kėdainiai, often helps not only domestic animals but also wild ones, he turned to them.
“I called the Animal Welfare Service and responded quickly. It came quickly.
With your help, we temporarily shelter the deer in our barn.
The service personnel injected medicine, stuffed the deer with straw, brought it to eat, we drank.
Then we left him warm at night ”, the benefactor recalled the events of the evening.
He felt better
The woman assured that the deer felt much better in the morning. She hopes that the cured deer can return to her family, who graze next to the farm in the fields.
“When I woke up in the morning, I went to see how he felt. I see the deer is already walking!
I believe that soon he will be able to return to his family.
His family is close: while the baby is being cared for, the other three deer walk nearby. They always live here. It’s good to look out the window.
We will wait for the baby to recover, we will consult with the animal welfare service. We believe that everything will work out, ”said the woman.
Poisoned by rape
According to Greta Linkė, representative of the Animal Welfare Service, the deer was most likely poisoned by rape. According to the specialist, such poisoning of animals is very dangerous.
“The deer is not afraid of people at all, it does not react to petting. This condition is poisoning.
In such cases, some animals survive, others sadly do not.
In many cases, rapeseed is poisonous to roe deer.
As soon as the animal recovers, it will be returned to the wild.
A flock of deer is constantly approaching the farm, of which there is a small one, so the liberated one must join them ”, summarized G. Linkė.
