Vaccination against the coronavirus is gaining momentum. Although elderly people in Vilnius are preparing to be vaccinated only from next week, several people are already waiting in the vaccination rooms of the Antakalnis polyclinic. Several hundred people of respectable age are vaccinated here during the day. For older people, the vaccine was administered by teachers, about a fifth of whom did not attend the vaccination.
In the last two days, 400 Vilnius residents over the age of 80 and the same number of medical personnel have received the first Covid-19 vaccine at the Antakalnis Polyclinic. The latter had already received a second dose of the vaccine.
“We have had Pfizer-BioNTech vaccines from teachers, some of them did not come to be vaccinated, so it was decided to start the process of vaccinating older people. 800 people, doctors and the elderly have already been vaccinated yesterday and today at the polyclinic. How much of this process will be more intense will depend on the amount of vaccine we receive. And anyway, our elderly people are very gladly vaccinated, ”said Rūta Vanagienė, Communication Coordinator of Antakalnis Polyclinic.
Meanwhile, teachers will be invited to get vaccinated again. “There were those who did not want to come, in total around 20 percent. educators. So let’s call a second time. On Saturday we are planning another vaccination of educators under 55 years of age, ”said a representative of the polyclinic.
I’m glad you didn’t forget
Several older people were waiting at one of the vaccination offices at noon Thursday. “It just came to our knowledge then. For many years, I am not afraid of anything. Still, I think the vaccine is good because I try to look positive. I hope I am healthier and maybe even younger,” Ona laughed, 85 years.
Juozas from Vilnius, who received the dose of the vaccine, was also happy. “What will abstinence from alcohol be like? It’s already bad here, maybe I came unnecessarily ”, – she commented on the nurse’s instructions about what to do after vaccination. Emma, a senior, said her coronavirus vaccine would be very beneficial to her grandchildren. “I hope they can come to see me more often now, that the environment is safer and that I am safer,” said the Vilnius resident. As we do medical work, we are exposed to risks, so now that perception of risk will be greatly reduced. Now we have a working year, I still don’t think about vacations, I want to vaccinate as many people as possible first, ”said the nurse.
For those who fear a coronavirus vaccine, the doctor recommended evaluating the risks of what the person would expect if they got sick and what they would contract. “After weighing everything up, I think everything would become clear.
