Lithuania, which received a painful clap in the Estonian national team’s “Baltic Way” tournament yesterday, rehabilitated on Saturday and took the lead from the first minute. 82:59 (23:12, 26:15, 10:19, 23:13) defeated the Latvian team trained by Robert Štelmaher, who did not have all the most outstanding basketball players in this tournament.
In the rather unsuccessful start of the match, the Lithuanians fared better, taking the lead 9: 3 after six minutes. Although the Latvians hit a triple, then Laurynas Birutis shone, who recovered the ball after an indiscriminate free kick by Marius Grigonis and scored two points with a foul. Although L. Biriris also missed the free kick, M. Grigonis was the first to run the ball and scored a colon and increased Lithuania’s lead to nine – 15: 6. In the remaining few minutes, the Lithuanians slightly increased the lead. and after ten minutes they were already leading at 23:12.
During the first minute of the second half, the Lithuanians ran 5: 0 and already led by 16 points – 28:12. The good game of the Lithuanian national team continued for the rest of the time, and after two triples by M. Grigonis, our team was already 49:27.
In the third half, Latvians began to narrow the gap and stayed 3 minutes behind (42:54). Latvians were close to 8 points, but L. Birutis scored a two-point lead, Edgar Ulanov added a three-point lead and the Lithuanians regained a double-digit 59:46 lead before the fourth quarter.
The fourth quarter started better for the Lithuanians and in the first three minutes they managed to increase the lead to 19 points (68:49). During the rest of the time, the Lithuanian national team did not fire the leaders and ended the match by winning a solid difference: 82:59.
We remind you that in yesterday’s game, the Lithuanians recognized the advantage of the Estonian national team after the extra time 85:92.
