Witnesses told the Interfax news agency that more than 10 protesters had been detained by militants in the Horka district of Kamena and then began to dismantle the barricade of water-filled plastic roadblocks.
The militia also followed and arrested people in the courtyards of residential buildings. Dozens of trucks carrying OMON officers from the militia special forces were dispatched to Kamen Hork.
One of the videos posted online shows masked men armed with rubber sticks, jumping out of a car without special identification markings, selectively stopping cars, and searching for white and red flags and other symbols used by opposition supporters.
On many other streets, protesters stopped traffic by lining up chains and holding white and red flags.
In Belarus there have been unprecedented protests for more than two months over the presidential elections on August 9, which were won by authoritarian leader Aliaksandr Lukashenko, who has ruled the country since 1994. The opposition and Western countries consider these elections they are rigged.
