Alytus Deputy Mayor Jurgita Šukevičienė, who reports on the COVID-19 situation in Alytus on her daily Facebook account, writes on Sunday:
“We are all tired. But the situation is systematically deteriorating. And today we are the FIRST in Lithuania. Counting 100,000 inhabitants in the last 14 days. 1992,2 new cases detected in Alytus! The average in Lithuania is 1178. In the majority of European countries, this indicator is less than 600.
For the fifth day in a row, we detected more than 100 new Covid cases per day in Alytus. Figures from the previous day: new Covid 107, a total of 1573 infected.
Hospital staff continues to “decline”: 3 more doctors and 6 nurses fell ill. And the number of patients in the Covid unit is growing: today, 89 and 6 are being treated in Covid resuscitation. Bed development will be needed, and who will care for them? …
