In Lithuania – increased air pollution: pollutants come from southwestern Russia and Ukraine

According to her, the country has unfavorable weather conditions for the spread of pollutants and dry weather is observed.

According to experts, pollution is affected not only by local sources of pollution: transportation, increased pollution, industrial companies, but also by pollutants brought in from neighboring countries.

“Air flows from the southeast and east predominate, accompanied by pollutants from southwestern Russia and southeastern Ukraine, where, according to satellite information, many forest fires are registered,” the report said.

The Environmental Protection Agency says the situation will change little by the end of the week, as there should be no changes in wind direction and higher levels of pollutants in the air are likely to persist in the coming days.

The specialists recommend to the municipalities the irrigation of surfaces, especially in works, streets and curbs, it is recommended to people who spend as little time as possible outdoors, to avoid active physical activity in nature.
