The lighting of a fir in Ignalina this year, like everywhere else, is different, but highly anticipated and hopeful, says the district municipality of Ignalina.
In the city’s Freedom Square, a beautiful fir tree was illuminated on Friday night at exactly 6 p.m.
The decorations of the spruce and its main accent, large and expressive lilies, reflect the symbolism of the Ignalina region. The square and the main streets are also decorated with lilies.
With the light of the Christmas tree, the broadcast of the celebration dedicated to this beautiful event began, which the Ignatians were invited to watch online.
The festive program includes joyful theatrical performances of the characters of the end and the next years (Rat and the Bull), greetings from Mayor Justas Rasikas and his elders, surprises and a wish for the White Light that illuminated the Christmas tree and augured a year better: “Merry Christmas!”
