On Friday morning, some of his compatriots killed the 27-year-old Lithuanian Dainius Kasiliauskis, known to his local compatriots, some as a kickboxing coach, not for the best features of his path.
The same day, police reported the arrest of a 37-year-old man, and on Saturday afternoon, 19- and 30-year-old men and a 45-year-old woman who allegedly helped the perpetrators were arrested.
It was later announced that only 19-year-old Liam Smith had been charged with murder, believed to have killed D. Kasiliauskis with a knife. The guy was put on trial at Peterborough Magistrates Court on Monday, where he should be charged and receive more pretrial detention.
Liam Smith had previously been involved in law enforcement, belonging to a local youth gang that had repeatedly terrorized residents of Peterborough’s Paston Quarter, where the murder took place on Friday.
He was last convicted in March of this year for depriving a child of his liberty for violations of public order.
Other detained suspects were released after questioning, police said.
The murdered Lithuanian had also dealt with the police in the past.
To commemorate him, a brief campaign was held on Saturday in Peterborne Park, raising funds for the family of the deceased on a special internet platform: he was the father of two young daughters. Almost £ 20,000 had been raised on Monday.
