Panevėžys “Lietkabelis” (1/3) team recorded the first victory in the European Cup tournament.
Nenado Chanako’s students at home 80:73 (19:20, 23:15, 18:23, 20:15) broke the Giants basketball players (0/4) in Antwerp.
With 2:38 minutes remaining, Marinas Maričius compared the result and, just over a minute, Gytis Masiulis put Lietkabelis ahead 75 – 73.
The opponents then had a chance to weigh the score or draw, but the hosts secured their victory with free throws.
For Lietkabel, this is the first victory in the fourth match of the European Cup.
G. Masiulis was impressive, scoring 26 points, bouncing 10 balls, and scoring 38 utility points. He made eight shots of 14.
At the start of the changing first half, Lietkabelis was six points behind, but then scored eight unanswered and went ahead 10 – 8. The clubs played point by point and after the first half, Lietkabelis was 19 – 20 behind.
