According to the police, the incident took place on June 8, in the Varėna district, on the Katra-Rudnia highway, just outside the border with Belarus.
The video initially shows a car adrift across the gravel road, preventing the minibus from reaching it.
A little later, after leaving the paved road, the minibus locks up: Honda stops and another car passes.
“Hello, what are you carrying?” Asks the man who approached the driver. Answering that nothing, he tells the show.
The driver is trying to find out who the people who arrested him are, the first thought being that they are plainclothes officers, likely border guards, catching smugglers.
“Who are you officials?” He asks and receives an answer. “So what, don’t you see?”
When asked to show their certificates, the men did not, they just sat in the cars and left.
15 minutes The State Border Guard Service and Alytus County Police asked about the incident. Representatives of both institutions indicated that the people captured in the video are certainly not officials.
Unofficially 15 minutes According to one of the investigated versions, the smuggling charge left in the forest had disappeared and a search had been made for who had appropriated it. As a result, the criminals allegedly thought that someone had hijacked their illegal cargo and stopped a minibus seen at the border.
“In this case, it is always better to call 112. We have no doubt that the police colleagues will also appreciate this video,” the SBGS reported. – The record was also reviewed by officials of the SBGS Immunity Board. We will not comment further on the event and possible actions. “
Kristina Janulevičienė, Alytus County Police Representative, said the incident was first learned from the public sphere, but then the police also received a statement from her husband.
So far, a pre-trial investigation has not been launched and it is unclear whether such behavior will be considered a crime by officials.
“According to the report, a clarification of the circumstances was initiated due to self-government. According to initial indications, this may be an administrative responsibility,” said K. Janulevičienė.
Article 518 of the Code of Administrative Offenses. It is specified that self-control is an arbitrary exercise of one’s real or supposed right, which is disputed by another person, in violation of the procedure established by law, without materially damaging the rights or legitimate interests of other people. This implies a fine of 16 to 60 euros.
It is true that self-government is also defined in the Penal Code, in case of significant damage to individual rights. Then there is a fine or arrest, or imprisonment for up to three years.
According to K. Janulevičienė, the people registered in the registry have been identified, but have not been registered as residents of the Varėna district. The police are trying to find them and listen to a version of their events.
It is true that the study can probably be expanded. You can also see images of a thug driving or intrusion into a person’s private space.
