The government could make decisions on lifting some quarantine restrictions in mid-February, says Prime Minister Ingrida Šimonytė.
“I think it will start somewhere, apparently in the first half of February. (…) I would say, more from mid-February, something between the beginning of February and mid-February: it would be February 8 or February 10 or some similar day. We would specifically analyze those decisions as of when, in practice, those restrictions would be eased or, if necessary, completely eliminated in some cases, “the prime minister told the alfa.lt portal on Monday.
According to her, next Monday the Government Emergency Commission could formulate more concrete proposals on what activities and on what dates that launch could begin.
“First of all, we need to get reliable data that we can already go in that direction, because the situation, although it is improving, is still very fragile,” said I. Šimonytė.
BNS previously wrote that to reduce the spread of COVID-19, the government’s emergency commission proposed on Monday to extend the country’s quarantine until February 28.
It is expected that from mid-February, if the number of infections decreases, two households could be allowed to communicate and the number of inpatient services provided in medical institutions would increase. The possibility of returning primary school children to school would be considered.
Among the first exemptions being considered is the authorization of non-grocery stores, provided they have a separate entrance from the outside, as well as other safety distance requirements.
Until March 1, the recommendation to opt for teleworking in both the public and private sectors would be maintained, except for those functions that must be performed in the workplace.
In Lithuania, the quarantine was announced on November 7 of last year, and from December 16 its regime tightened and lasted until January 31.
