I.Šimonytė spoke about the course of the coalition negotiations on Facebook. He pointed out that a government blueprint is being drawn up together with the coalition agreement, as well as another annex with works that are especially important for one party or another, but on which there is no full agreement.
“It is not a negotiation in which the regiments of negotiators, who are closed behind cabinet doors, sometimes escape to smoke or comment on the road.
For objective reasons why we cannot yet meet physically and for convenience, we use all the tools that devoured the situation already had the majority accustomed.
So, as has been said before, yesterday we exchanged proposals between the parties and we all learned what the other two parties are offering. Today we discuss how we can move forward, “says I. Šimonytė.
The candidate for prime minister notes that several things were agreed and listed during the interview on Monday:
- “I am committed to drafting a possible coalition agreement by tonight, which will include provisions that I am sure we can really agree on. These would be principles, values, short-term challenges, key works and procedures for developing the Program. of government;
- We suggest that issues that are of particular importance to one party or the other (although there may not be consensus on them) be included in a specific list as part of the coalition agreement. I also promised to present a preliminary draft of this list;
- A draft Government program would also be attached to the agreement, which would be prepared by agreeing on the above parts and appointing a program preparation group. This group will evaluate those detailed proposals, many of which were made yesterday, but which are not yet at the level of the provisions of the coalition agreement and / or require further discussion. “
According to I.Šimonytė, over the long weekend, the negotiating partners will evaluate the prepared draft agreement and the list of important issues, and will prepare notes that can be discussed at the beginning of the meeting next week.
“I hope that soon we can reach a final agreement and allocate the remaining time for the preparation of the Government’s draft program,” says I. Šimonytė.
After the Seimas elections that ended on Sunday, the TS-LKD, the Liberal Movement and the Union for Freedom announced a future center-right coalition. In the new parliament, these parties should have at least 74 votes out of 141.
On Thursday, the largest force in the coalition, the National Union and the Lithuanian Christian Democrats, received requests from the Liberal Movement and the Freedom Party, which should be included in the coalition’s program, and conservatives might be disappointed. The Liberal Movement presented dozens, OR Freedom Party – even 160 points.
Both liberal parties have indicated that they will seek to include a commitment to legalize same-sex couples in the coalition’s agenda, although I. Šimonytė hoped that this issue would be left to the Seimas, but not included as a promise in the documents.
In addition, in their points, both liberal parties speak of tax cuts, although I. Šimonytė affirms that such proposals should be made only by specifying the sources of income.
