Prime Minister Ingrida Šimonytė, who participated in the Congress of the Lithuanian Christian National-Democratic Union (TS-LKD) on Sunday, pointed out that all those vaccinated against COVID-19 contribute to the fight against the crisis caused by the pandemic. According to her, it is now necessary to do everything possible to ensure that the provision of medical services is not restricted as the epidemiological situation deteriorates.

“We are participating in a kind of race with virus mutations, active spread in the hotspots, so each fully vaccinated person is a very important participant in this fight. Therefore, I would like to sincerely thank everyone who understands this, who trusts science, medicine, the state, ”said I. Šimonytė at the TS-LKD Congress.

“Let us do everything possible not to further restrict medical services or, God forbid, cause moral dilemmas for doctors, who should be given medical care first of all to a seriously ill person,” said I. Šimonytė.

In her speech to the Conservatives, the Prime Minister noted that although the results of vaccination in Lithuania are not bad, COVID-19 continues to claim lives. Therefore, according to her, the government is determined to make unpopular decisions.

“We have had to deal with a very uncomfortable reality dictated by a pandemic. Today, we have effective vaccines that are available to everyone and often even delivered. I would like to be happy that, compared to other countries in the region, the result of the vaccination in Lithuania is relatively good. But I can’t, because every life a covid takes is a death too. Therefore, I said and will say that I will do everything possible to fight for people’s lives, their safety and its future, even if it requires unpopular solutions, ”said I. Šimonytė at the TS-LKD Congress.

“We cannot become inviolable or receive a 100% guarantee that no one will harm us, but we can take the shields they gave us and protect ourselves as much as possible and protect those around us from the arrows that fly on that battlefield. It is our duty and responsibility, “said the Prime Minister.

On Sunday, the Congress of the Union of the Lithuanian Christian Homeland-Democrat (TS-LKD) takes place in Vilnius, where party chairman Gabrielius Landsbergis has been officially confirmed for a new term.
