Hydrometeorological Service: Easter weather records for 60 years

Due to such a dispersion of dates, according to the specialists of the Hydrometeorological Service, it is not possible to evaluate the weather of Holy Week climatologically, but it is possible to see what type of weather and its records were on the first St. Easter Day of the last 60 years.

According to the data available to the Hydrometeorological Service, the hottest Easter was in 2000, the average daily air temperature in Lithuania was 17.3 degrees. That year was a sunny and warm day throughout Lithuania, the air temperature fluctuated between 23.8 and 26.7 degrees. The mentioned grades were measured in Varėna.

Meteorologists point out that there have only been four Easters in the last 60 years, when the maximum air temperature at at least one weather station has exceeded 20 degrees: 1962, 2000, 2011 and 2014.
The coldest Easter morning dawned in 1974. Also in Varėna, when the air temperature dropped to -11 degrees below zero. However, the 1970s could be considered the coldest. Easter, when the average daily air temperature in Lithuania was -2.6 degrees.

During the 60 years, there were 23 Easter, when the snow was fixed in at least one weather station and only two, when the snow covered all of Lithuania: in 1970. and 1996 1970
