In this election, the great majority of divisions and party structures nominated the current president, G. Landsbergis (72 proposals). In addition to this applicant, TS-LKD members were nominated: Paulius Saudargas (31 nominations), Laurynas Kasčiūnas (28), Radvilė Morkūnaitė-Mikulėnienė (12), Gintarė Skaistė (5), Žygimantas Pavilionis (3), Jurgita Šiždinienė (3ugždinienė ), Arvydas Anušauskas (2), Audronius Ažubalis (2), Monika Navickienė (2), once candidates for Valdas Benkunskas, Irena Degutienė, Rasa Juknevičienė, Mykolas Majauskas, Kazys Starkevičius and Šarūnas Vaitkus.

All the candidates, with the exception of the current president of the TS-LKD, G. Landsbergis, signed a general refusal to run in the election of this party president, based on a special pandemic situation that requires concentration and unity in the Seimas and government.

“In this difficult period, understanding the trust of the Lithuanian people in our electoral program and seeking to justify that trust, we refuse to run for the TS-LKD presidential elections and invite ourselves to focus on important work for Lithuania,” he added.

Apart from G. Landsbergis, the vice president of the Seimas P. Saudargas, who received the most support from the divisions and structures of the party, claims that such a decision was due to the fact that an active electoral campaign would work.

“Currently, not mutual competition in the internal struggles of the parties, but working here and now for the benefit of Lithuania in the Seimas and the Government, both to get rid of the pandemic and reduce its consequences for the economy, as well as to defend the values and the safety of our community is a priority of the party. ” He asked the other candidates to make a joint decision not to stand as a candidate and therefore approve the continued presidency of the TS-LKD by Mr. Landsberg without a general election.

According to the procedure for the election of the TS-LKD president, in the event of a situation where only one candidate for the TS-LKD president is present and approved, the TS will propose the decision on the subsequent course of the chose. -LKD Supervisory Committee and approved by the TS-LKD Council.

Mr. Landsberg: Being alone in the elections is a great responsibility for me personally.

In the upcoming Conservative Party chair election, the only remaining candidate, Chancellor Gabrielius Landsbergis, says he sees this as a huge responsibility.

“I am grateful for the confidence expressed in nominating me, and I see this as an evaluation of the results achieved. In the last six years, the party has achieved a lot, but there are great challenges ahead. The fact that I have been left alone in the Elections are a great responsibility for me personally. Consequently, there is an understanding in the party that what has been started now must continue and, most importantly, ensure the good work of the government and the coalition, “said Conservative leader G Landsbergis in a comment sent to Elta. .
