“I knew in advance that they would deprive me of my legal immunity, I see what the ruling majority is like. My political persecution of that ruling majority has begun, ”P. Gražulis told reporters at Seimas, commenting on the conclusion of the commission of inquiry.
According to the politician, it is a political case and he intends to emphasize it speaking from the Seimas rostrum.
“It is a political deal, I will decide, I will think about what to do … First, I will give a good speech at the Seimas. Maybe I won’t stop, let me speak … If the Landsberg representatives attack me, it means that I serve the people, if I get drunk, I would serve the clan. I paraphrase the words of Monsignor Alfonsas Svarinskas, who used to say this during the Soviet era: if the Soviet system persecutes me, I will serve God, and if I am drunk, I will serve the devil, ”said P. Gražulis.
Asked if he thought that the Seimas would approve the commission’s conclusions and waive his legal immunity, the politician did not hesitate: “one thousand percent.”
Nor does he give up jail and would travel there as an expert, because he would already have experience in the Soviet era.
“As an expert, I would do an expert exam, which conditions are better: in the Soviet era or now. Even though I don’t have a single tattoo, I hope the prisoners will accept me better than the conservatives at the Seimas. And it was very well received in the Soviet camps, “said P. Gražulis.
The commission of inquiry formed by the Seimas proposes that the Seimas comply with the request of Attorney General E. Pašilis and allow the Seimas member P. Gražulis “to be prosecuted, arrested or otherwise restricted his freedom.” 7 members of the commission voted in favor of such conclusions on Friday, 1 was against.
The conclusion of the commission of inquiry will be presented to the Seimas by the president of the commission Arminas Lydeka.
“The commission did not find that P. Gražulis was persecuted for his speeches. There is pre-trial investigative material, it is not the job of the Seimas Temporary Investigation Commission to evaluate those specific legal aspects. The Seimas commission gave P. Gražulis the opportunity to defend his rights in court, to prove that he is innocent (…) Preconditions must be created for a member of the Seimas to avoid it, otherwise the administration of justice would be impeded ”, emphasized the president of commission A. Lydeka.
The Seimas had ordered the commission to carry out the investigation before December 23 of this year.
ELTA recalls that when requesting the exemption of the legal immunity of the member of the Seimas P. Gražulis, the Attorney General E. Pašilis affirmed that the parliamentarian had violated the Penal Code and there were no indications of bribery since 2015. May 18 to 2017 May 13 February abused his official position for financial gain. E. Pašilis emphasized that P. Gražulis with his actions undermined the authority of the Seimas.
“Petras, a member of the Seimas Gražulis systematically, for a long time, using his status as representative of the highest government, his influence diminished the prestige of his current functions, the authority of the Seimas of the Republic of Lithuania, formed a negative public opinion on the Seimas, members of the Seimas ”, said E. Pašilis at the Seimas session.
The Attorney General highlighted that P. Gražulis had violated the principles enshrined in the Constitution and therefore had violated the oath enshrined in the Constitution. According to E. Pašilis, as a result, the state suffered significant moral damage.
The Attorney General repeatedly requested the waiver of the immunity of Deputy Gražulis. June 4 This request from E. Pašilis was rejected by the Seimas.
