The Alytus District Municipality constantly carries out road grading work with a grader. The gravel roads in the area are compared according to a pre-established list throughout the season, as soon as the weather conditions allow.
Last week, the leveling of roads and streets with a bulldozer began in the old town of Punia, but the work was suspended due to rain.
“As it all depends on the weather, you don’t work in the rain, it’s too humid. We hope the work will continue this week,” said Gintautas Laukaitis, the oldest from Punia.
According to Indrė Mocevičienė, Chief Specialist of the Department of Public Services and Architecture of the Alytus District Municipality Administration, the roads have already been leveled in the Daugai, Butrimonys, Alytus, Nemunaitis, Raitininkai and Alove elders.
“Pivašiūnai, Simnas, Krokialaukis, Miroslav and part of the elders of Punia remained. We plan to level the most important roads by the end of the year, ”said I. Mocevičienė.
The gravel roads are compared by a grader according to a list compiled by the elders and coordinated with the Municipal Department of Architecture and Public Services of the municipality.
The district’s gravel roads are graded by a contractor – UAB Transdosa.
In the Alytus district, the gravel roads and streets of local importance are mostly found in Daugai Elder, least in Nemunaitis Elder.
